Hi there,

Harry and Gwen have gone fishing for the summer and early fall….

Harry likes deep sea fishing, though his audition with Deadliest Catch has yet to be seen by the producers, he is surely out crabbing somewhere around the Puget Sound. Gwen, on the other hand enjoys Fly Fishing, not only for the great waders and hats, but for the fish too.

Unfortunately both forgot to take their camera on these trips, so there’ll be no pictures of either of them actually fishing.

They’ll be back soon. Till then listen to Whidbey Air KWPA via the internet stream at www.kwparadio.org

DANCE the night away to support the Island County Museum!

May 20!

Coupeville – The Island County Historical Museum is hosting a fundraising dance on Friday, May 20! The popular Whidbey Island band “Paid ‘N Full” will feature music from the 60’s and 70’s – a mixture of rock, pop, and a little country.

Established in 1949, the museum cares for more than 20,000 items of local history in its collections. A historical Archives and Research library are available to the public by appointment.

The fundraising dance’s theme is “Remembering the 60’s and 70’s”. Partygoers are encouraged to break out their bellbottoms and peasant blouses, skinny jeans and leather jackets. A fun contest will be held for the “Coolest Threads”. A raffle will also be held. Anyone with “slick wheels” from the 60’s and 70’s is highly encouraged to join the fun, and park their classics in the Rec Hall lot for all to enjoy.

Please call ahead to reserve a good parking spot for your cool ride!

Tickets to the event are $15 each, or $20 at the door. Giant “Prairie Dog” Polish hot dogs, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Special discounted membership for new members will also be offered during the event, as part of the museums “May Museum Membership Month”. All proceeds benefit the Island County Historical Museum. Friends of Friends Plant Sale

Sunday, May 15th, Tilth Farmers Market – Hwy 525 at Thompson Road

11:30am – to – 3:30pm

The annual Friends of Friends plant sale has arrived! The sale has shifted to Sunday to correspond to the change to Sunday of the Tilth Farmers Market.

Each year home gardeners and gardening businesses donate a variety of healthy plants including trees, shrubs, sturdy perennials and annuals. Gardening experts will be on hand to answer questions.

Also available on site will be the produce, edible plants and crafts from regular market farmer vendors.

Plant sale purchase is by donation. Proceeds will benefit South Whidbey’s Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund.

Each year this community non-profit raises funds to help pay medical bills that South Whidbey residents cannot afford. With rising health costs, job layoffs and reduced availability of public funds, Friends of Friends is more important than ever.

To donate healthy plants to the sale pot them and deliver them to the Tilth Farmers Market on the previous Saturday, May 14 or call 360-341-5587.
